NEGAUNEE TOWNSHIP — Michigan State Police have positively identified human remains that were found by hunters last month in Munising Township.

Police say that the remains are those of 40-year-old Victor Wayne Salo. Dental records helped identify Mr. Salo’s remains.

According to his family, Salo was said to have lived a transient lifestyle. Salo had not been seen by family members in two years. He was never reported missing.

Salo was believed to have been camping nearby where his remains were located on October 30th. Due to advanced decomposition, police were unable to determine his cause of death. Foul play has been ruled out by authorities.
