Suspect arrested in connection with gas station robbery

MARQUETTE — The Marquette City Police Department has made an arrest in connection to Monday night’s unarmed robbery in the city of Marquette.

Police arrested 27-year-old Anthony Gonzalez of Marquette on a robbery charge and two counts of larceny in a building. Robbery is a 15-year felony and larceny in a building is a 4-year felony. Prior to the gas station robbery, numerous larcenies were also committed in the city of Marquette.

Gonzalez is believed to be the man who took an unknown amount of money from a cash register at the Krist gas station on Lincoln Ave. in Marquette Monday night. Police say Gonzalez reached over the counter and took the cash while he attempted to make a purchase.

Gonzalez is currently lodged at the Marquette County Jail on a $100,000 bond. There’s no word yet on when he will be arraigned.

Detectives with the Upper Peninsula Substance Enforcement Team (UPSET) assisted the Marquette City Police Department in the investigation.
