Police box in driver with violent past at gas station

ISHPEMING –A man with a history of violence was boxed in at a local gas station and taken into custody before a police chase could ensue.

On Saturday night just before 8:30 p.m. Ishpeming Township Police officers reportedly assisted Marquette County Sheriff’s Deputies with the stop and arrest of a man with a history of violence.

Officers coordinated together to box in a vehicle before it’s driver was able to leave the parking lot of the Westgate Shell. Officers boxed in the vehicle to avoid a pursuit on public highways that could have endangered motorists.

The man was taken into custody without incident and no violent crime took place at the Shell station.
