Pistons lose lottery pick to Hornets
The Detroit Pistons will not have a first round selection at the 2014 NBA Draft, unless they make a trade. The Pistons lost the ninth overall pick in the draft to the Charlotte Hornets.
Back in 2012, the Pistons traded guard Ben Gordon and a Top 8 protected first-round pick to Charlotte for Corey Maggette. Detroit was projected to have the No. 8 selection in the 2014 NBA Draft, but Cleveland jumped from the No. 9 selection to the top overall pick. The Cavaliers won the NBA Draft Lottery for the second year in a row and for the third time the last four years. Cleveland had just a 1.7% chance of winning the No. 1 selection.
With Cleveland jumping from No. 9 to No. 1, the Pistons slid from the No. 8 pick to the No. 9 pick, which went to the Hornets. Detroit has just one pick in the draft. The Pistons own the No. 38 selection.
The Milwaukee Bucks had the best odds of winning the NBA Lottery, but they will have the No 2. pick in the draft next month.
