IRON COUNTY — One person was taken into custody after a car chase that crossed state lines.

Around 3:00 yesterday afternoon Michigan State Police out of Iron Mountain tried to stop a vehicle for excessive speed on US-two near Idlewood Road in Crystal Falls Township.

Police say the driver refused to stop. Police pursued the driver with the assistance of the Iron County Sheriff Department and the Iron River Police Department.

The driver crossed state lines and was stopped when Wisconsin police deployed stop sticks to eventually end the chase. The driver was taken into custody by the Forest County Sheriff Department and is currently being lodged on their local charges.

The Michigan State Police will seek charges through the Iron County Prosecutor’s Office.

The driver’s name is being withheld pending arraignment.
