IRON MOUNTAIN — While winter parking bans went into effect in many U.P. municipalities this past weekend, two cities are holding off on enforcement until the snow flies.

Due to current weather conditions, officials at the Iron Mountain Police Department and Kingsford Public Safety say officers will not begin enforcing the overnight parking ban until the first measurable snowfall that requires snow plows to be called out. They say residents should stay aware of forecasts and remove their vehicles from streets, alleys, and city-owned parking lots when snow is predicted, as enforcement will begin without further notice once the plows need to hit the streets.

The overnight parking ban began Sunday and will run through March 31st in Kingsford and April 30th in Iron Mountain. Restrictions run from 2:00 a.m. to 7:00 a.m. on days the ban is in effect.
