Overnight power outage scheduled in Negaunee

NEGAUNEE — Scheduled work on the power station in Negaunee left the city powerless for a few hours early Wednesday morning.

Workers had to shut a couple of grids to perform the maintenance, and more work is scheduled for early Thursday morning as well.

Maintenance is scheduled from 2 a.m.-6 a.m., which will once again leave much of the city without power during that time.  This means those of you who are early risers will want to use cell phones instead of electronic alarm clocks as wake up calls.

This also means traffic lights will be out.

City officials and the Michigan State Police want to remind people that highway traffic has the right of way when traffic lights aren’t working.  They say not to treat the three U.S. 41 intersections that pass through the city as four way stops.
