Overnight lane closures on Portage Lake Lift Bridge

Routine maintenance on the southbound lanes of the Portage Lake Lift Bridge will cause lane closures overnight this week, according to the Michigan Department of Transportation.

The project along US-41/M-26 between Houghton and Hancock is to begin today (Monday, July 8) and be completed by Thursday (July 11.)

MDOT says the work will require southbound lane closures between 10 p.m. and 7 a.m.  Today, the southbound inside lane will be closed, and on Wednesday (July 10) the southbound outside lane will be closed. One southbound lane of traffic will be maintained at all times.
