Orange for Taylor

Area businesspeople are trying to mobilize the Ishpeming community to help a local girl battle a serious illness.

Taylor Carlson is 9 years old.

She was recently diagnosed with a form of leukemia.

Taylor and her parents are in Ann Arbor for her treatments at University of Michigan Hospital.

But she has two local businesspeople in her corner.

Scott and Sarah Martin own PC Medic Computer Centers, and Needle & Thread Custom Embroidery.

They’re also Taylor’s neighbors and Scott says she plays all the time in their driveway.

They’ve raised nearly $2,000 so far from T–shirts they’ve printed in Taylor’s honor.

If you want one, you can get one at either of the Martins’ PC Medic stores in Ishpeming and Marquette.

There’s also a fundraising dinner and dance this weekend for Taylor and her family.

It’s on Saturday at the Ishpeming Elks Lodge starting at 5pm.

Admission is $6.
