Open house held for former DEQ building

The Department of Environmental Quality has new offices in Marquette and its old building located at  Sawyer International Airport is for sale.

Telkite and Coldwell Banker held an open house Thursday to showcase the facility.

The building has seven offices and can accommodate 195 work spaces.  The asking price falls just short of one million dollars.

“It would be key to get someone in who has affiliation with the airport but with this many square feet–19,000.  It really opens it up to anybody looking for an office building,” Coldwell Banker relator Dave Mingay said.

“(It’s a) very big building, wide open space, could be converted into offices,” Sawyer International Airport manager Duane DuRay said.  “It has high ceilings where we could take out the suspended ceilings could be converted into manufacturing.  It has a lot of good benefits and a good location.”

Because the buildingis located in a Renaissance Zone, businesses looking to get started at Telkite Technology Park are eligible for tax credits and financing assistance.
