UPDATE: One man sent to hospital after two vehicle collision

UPDATE — 12:38 p.m. January 11, 2016 (EST)

The driver of the 2003 Chevy Silverado was identified as 20-year-old Damien Edward Desjardins-Racine from Marquette and the driver of the 1997 GMC Sierra was identified as 62-year-old Jacob Harvala from Ishpeming.

Officials from the Michigan State Police Negaunee Post says Desjardins-Racine was at fault in the crash and cited for V.B.S.L. – Too Fast.

Troopers were assisted at the scene by the Ishpeming Township Police Department, Ishpeming Township Fire and Rescue and U.P. Health Systems Ishpeming EMS.


 

ELY TOWNSHIP — A two vehicle accident sent one man to the hospital after colliding with a tree.

Michigan State Police responded to a two vehicle accident involving a burgundy and tan striped GMC Sierra and a Silver Chevy Silverado on County Road CD in Ely Township this morning. According to State Police on scene, the male driver of the Chevy Silverado was traveling south bound down the curved hill and crossed the center line. The driver of the GMC Sierra tried to avoid colliding with the other car, veered right and instead collided with a tree.

The male driver of the Chevy Silverado was able to drive his car away from the scene and was reported unharmed. The driver of the GMC Sierra was transported via ambulance to U.P. Health System – Marquette for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

Ishpeming Township Fire Department assisted at the scene.
