Nurses Pushing Congress

Registered nurses in Marquette will join colleagues in several downstate communities and across the country to send a message to Congress.

The nurses are holding soup kitchens, food drives and other events.

Carolyn Hietamaki is the president of the RN Staff Council at Marquette General.

She says they want lawmakers to know it’s time for Wall Street corporations to pay to heal the damage they’ve done to main street communities.

Hietamaki says the nurses have a first-hand view of how it hurts those at the local level.

Congressman Dan Benishek will be visiting the Upper Peninsula next week.

ABC 10 has an appointment to speak with him while he’s here, and we will ask him about this issue.
