UPDATE: None injured in fire, but home considered total loss

UPDATE — 7:12 a.m. March 22nd, 2016 (EDT) Police and Fire officers were busy this morning extinguishing a fire.

Just after 1:00 a.m. this morning Manistique Public Safety and Volunteer Fire Officers were called to a report of a house fire on North Fourth Street in Manistique.

When they arrived on the scene they reportedly found that the rear portion of the house was fully engulfed in flames and endangering the adjacent residence. This is the same home that officers responded to early yesterday morning.

Officers remained on scene to put out hot spots until 4:00 a.m. The cause of both fires are still under investigation.


 

MANISTIQUE — Volunteer firefighters recently left the scene of a structure fire, where thankfully no one was injured.

Just after 1:30 a.m. early this morning Manistique Public Safety and Volunteer Fire Officers were called to a structure fire on North 4th Street in Manistique.

When arriving on scene, officers reportedly found that the entire front of the home was engulfed in flames and the occupants, a father and his daughter, were safely out of the building. The family pet was later located safe and unharmed.

Officers fought the blaze for 20 minutes, but remained on scene to put out hot spots until 4:30 a.m.

The cause of the fire, that started in the downstairs utility room, is still under investigation. The house is considered a total loss.
