Non-profit says “Thanks” with Random Acts of Kindness

MARQUETTE — Today is Random Acts of Kindness Day and a local non-profit wanted to go the extra mile for those who support them throughout the year.

Teaching Family Homes partnered with local area McDonald’s restaurants to give some unexpected goodies to their staff and supporters for this unofficial holiday.

McDonald’s Area Supervisor Joe McCarthy says, “It’s encouraging people to do acts of kindness. So we chose Teaching Family Homes and we’ve worked with Rich and Teaching Family Homes for a while now and just think it’s for a good cause.”

MAESA Special Education Teacher at Teaching Family Homes Andrew Dalian says, “It is a shocker. We were not expecting to receive gifts and all kinds of good stuff . We thought, ‘Oh this is going to be a serious meeting,’ and so I know personally I’m very surprised.”

Aside from surprising a couple of their teachers and teachers’ aids, they also stopped by Econo Foods and VAST, both in Marquette. Econo Foods and VAST contribute to Teaching Family Homes through donations and volunteer work.
