NEGAUNEE — No one was injured after a school bus slid off a road in Negaunee Township early Wednesday morning.

Around 7:00 a.m., Marquette County Sheriff’s Office deputies say a Negaunee Public Schools bus carrying seven students was attempting to drive up a hill on a dirt section of North Road when it began to slide backwards. The road was completely iced over. The driver turned the bus so that it would stop before sliding into a ditch.

Deputies told ABC 10 that no one was injured. The Negaunee Public Schools Superintendent came to the scene to check on everyone, and students were on their way back to school before 8:15 a.m. The school bus blocked the entire road and where a wrecker later came to tow the school bus to its respective depot for minor repairs.

The Marquette County Road Commission also assisted at the scene.
