No contest plea will stand in child abuse case

MARQUETTE — A decision has been made in the case of a man accused of severely injuring a baby.

The no contest plea from November for Nicholas Racine, 27, will stand.

Judge Jennifer Mazzuchi made that decision at a hearing this afternoon in Marquette County Circuit Court. Racine pleaded no contest back in November to one count of first–degree child abuse. He tried to rescind his no contest plea back in January.

Racine was arrested last June for severely injuring a three–month old infant. No sentencing date for Racine has yet been set.
