NMU\’s Vander Baan Tabbed Academic All-American

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Kelli Vander Baan, a member of the Northern Michigan University women’s swimming and diving team, has been recognized as an Individual/Honorable Mention College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) Scholar All-American for the 2009-10 school year.

Vander Baan, who will be a senior this fall, earned a 3.5 grade-point average for the 2010 winter semester. The Highland, Mich. native is majoring in secondary education/social studies.

To earn recognition as an Individual CSCAA Scholar All-American, each swimmer/diver must achieve a minimum GPA of 3.5 and be selected to participate in the NCAA , NAIA or JC Swimming and Diving Championships. Fewer than six percent of all collegiate swimmers and divers receive recognition as an individual CSCAA Scholar All-American.

Vander Baan was selected to participate in the NCAA Division II Swimming and Diving Championships, but was not able to perform due to an injury.
