NMU Women's B-Ball back at Berry

MARQUETTE, Mich. – The Northern Michigan women’s basketball team looks to snap a four-game losing streak this week, as the Wildcats host Wayne State (Feb. 2) and Findlay (Feb. 4) at the Berry Events Center.

The ‘Cats enter the matchup at 8-11 on the season and 4-8 in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. NMU fell 68-62 to Hillsdale (Jan. 26) and 63-55 at Northwood (Jan. 28).

Senior guard Chelsea Lyons let the ‘Cats last week, averaging 19 points, seven rebounds and five assists in the two losses. Freshman guard Alyssa Colla continued her impressive first-year showing tying her career-high with 17 points against Hillsdale.

The Warriors enter the contest at 11-9 on the season and 6-7 in the GLIAC. WSU sits in sixth place in the south division, splitting a pair of games last week. The Warriors fell big, 112-75 to Ashland (Jan. 26) and defeated Lake Erie, 67-64 (Jan. 28).

The ‘Cats are 27-17 all-time against the Warriors dating back to the 1973-74 season. NMU has won three of the last four meetings, with WSU taking a 59-57 decision last season in Detroit.

The Oilers enter the week at 12-7 on the season and 6-6 in the GLIAC. Findlay fell twice last weekend to Ashland and Lake Erie and sits in fourth place in the south division.

NMU is just 14-4 against Findlay dating back to the 1997-98 season. The ‘Cats have won two straight in the series including a 68-55 win last season in Findlay.

Thursday’s game is part of a doubleheader, with the men’s game set to tipoff at 7:30 p.m. Saturday’s matinee game is scheduled for 1 p.m.
