NMU Volleyball Schedule For 2011

MARQUETTE, Mich. – The Northern Michigan University volleyball team
announces its 2011 volleyball schedule. NMU is coming off a 22-7 record
and a 15-4 conference mark. The \’Cats will play 12 matches inside
Vandament Arena where they finished 12-1 in 2010.

NMU kicks off the season in August with its annual Green and Gold Match on Aug. 24 and then travels to Duluth, Minn. for a scrimmage with
Minnesota-Duluth and St. Cloud State that weekend (Aug. 27).

The regular season gets started with a tournament in St. Paul, Minn.
during the first weekend of September. NMU plays Concordia, Central
Missouri, Southwest Minnesota State and Pittsburg State. Concordia is the
defending National Champions while Central Missouri and Southwest
Minnesota advanced in the NCAA Tournament last season.

The \’Cats open the home portion and get underway in the Great Lakes
Intercollegiate Athletic Conference during the second week of September as Saginaw Valley State (Sept. 9), Grand Valley State (Sept. 10) and Ferris State (Sept. 11) come to Marquette.

A five-game road trip finishes off September with matches at Ashland
(Sept. 16), Lake Erie (Sept. 17), Lake Superior State (Sept. 23),
Northwood (Sept. 24) and Michigan Tech (Sept. 30).

Four games at home against Minnesota-Duluth (Oct. 4), Ohio Dominican (Oct. 7), Tiffin (Oct. 8) and Michigan Tech (Oct. 11) are followed by the Great Lakes Valley Conference/GLIAC Crossover Tournament in Aurora, Ill.

A three-game road trip at Saginaw Valley State (Oct. 21), Grand Valley
State (Oct. 22) and Ferris State (Oct. 23.) is followed by two games at
home against Lake Superior State (Oct. 28) and Northwood (Oct. 29) round out October.

The \’Cats continue the back end of a five-game home stand and finish the
regular season with matches against Wayne State (Nov. 4), Findlay (Nov. 5) and Hillsdale (Nov. 6) before the postseason starts.
