NMU Unions Give to Charity

The labor groups representing employees at Northern Michigan University are in the giving spirit.

They’re helping Upper Peninsula residents in need.

Four NMU employee unions got together on campus this morning to donate money to the Marquette Salvation Army.

United Auto Workers Locals 1950 and 2178, the NMU Faculty Association and AFSCME Local 1094 each donated $250 dollars.

Cindy Constantino of AFSCME Local 1094 says the unions represent some of the faculty, along with technical and office professionals, administrative professionals, maintenance workers, food service employees and police.

The American Association of University Professors did its part earlier in the season by making donations to a community food drive.
