NMU Track and Field Athletes Earn All-Region Honors

The Northern Michigan University outdoor track and field team had seven student-athletes named to the All-Midwest Region team by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).

The top five student-athletes from each region in individual events and each member of a relay ranked in the region’s top three have earned the All-Region distinction for the 2012 outdoor season. A total of 1,274 athletes receive 1,854 USTFCCCA All-Region nods. The USTFCCCA regions match those used for NCAA Cross Country Championships.

Senior Catherine Angeli was selected in the 100-meter dash and was on the 4×100 relay team.

Senior Bailey Franklin was in the top five in the high jump, long jump and triple jump. She is going to the NCAA Championship in the high jump.

Junior Mallory Celaya earned all-region in the 3000-meter steeplechase.

Sophomore Jamie Roberts is all-region in the pole vault and is going to NCAAs in the event.

Redshirt freshman is all-region in the triple jump and the 4×100 relay. She is going to NCAA in the triple jump.

Freshman Angelina Howard and sophomore Samara White were also members of the 4×100 relay squad.

Franklin, Hewett and Roberts travel to Pueblo, Colo. this weekend for the NCAA Outdoor Championship.
