NMU Student Leader Fellowship Program

For more than two decades, a nationally-accredited Northern Michigan University program has helped mold community leaders.

And those efforts are being recognized.

The Student Leader Fellowship Program has been a staple at NMU for the last 21 years.

Due to the longevity of the program and its proven success rate, more people are starting to take notice.

The SLFP was named as a finalist for the campus community partnership award.

The recognition comes from the program’s year-long joint venture between participants and community mentors.

Students like Geneva Martin receive just two course credits for their two-year commitment to the program.

She says you take out of the program what you put into it.

The SLFP is accepting applications for the 2012 program through this Friday.
