NMU Prof is State Professor of the Year

A Northern Michigan University professor receives high honors that get her name brought up on the floor of the U.S. House.

Dr. Sandra Poindexter works within NMU’s College of Business.

She teaches computer information systems, and she’s just been named Michigan Distinguished Professor of the Year.

It’s an honor recognizing great achievement in teaching undergrads.

Congressman Bart Stupak was so pleased with Dr. Poindexter’s accomplishment that he included her in the Congressional Record as a role model for other college-level faculty.

Michigan Tech professor John Gierke was one of 3 people who won the award last year.
