NMU Nordic ski team wins UP Duals

HOUGHTON, Mich. — The Northern Michigan University Nordic skiing team continued its domination Sunday at the UP Duals, sweeping the top five spots in the women’s 10K classic race and the top four spots in the men’s 15K classic race.

NMU junior Felicia Geisor won the women’s 10K classic race posting a time of 32:46.1. Sophomore Kristen Bourne took second with a time of 33:04.5 while freshman Vivian Hett was third at 33:13.6, senior Jordyn Ross was fourth at 33:20.1 and freshman Vera Gruber rounded out the top five for NMU at 33:21.0.

All of the Wildcats women’s skiers finished in the top 11 of the competition.

Sophomore Fredrik Schwencke won the men’s 15K race clocking a time of 42:19.8 while sophomore Adam Martin was second at 42:$5.3. Senior Erik Soderman was third at 42:55.0 and senior Kyle Bratrud was fourth clocking a time of 43:44.9. All of the Wildcats men’s skiers finished int he top eight of the event.

NMU returns home to host the NMU Open Dec. 13-14 at Al Quaal in Ishpeming.
