Sounds of music drifted through the halls Tuesday at Northern Michigan University.

The Department of Music held one if its may student recitals.

The recitals are held regularly and are free and open to the public.

Gaining experience and performing live is invaluable to the students, and they look forward to challenging their music capabilities.

“I feel like these recitals have really given me an opportunity to better myself as a performer especially with my musicality, focusing on nit picky little details that I normally would not have bothered with back when I first arrived at Northern,” Amanda Fliflet said, who plays the marimba.

“Recitals are a good way to expose yourself and get use to being on a stage and playing music that you probably wouldn’t find on your own, so it’s a good way to get yourself exposed,” trumpet player Terrence Ingalsbe said.

NMU’s next scheduled performance is Thursday, March 13 at 7:30 p.m. at Reynolds Recital Hall.  For a complete list of performances, click here.
