NMU Men's B-Ball team heading to the Buckeye state

MARQUETTE, Mich. – The Northern Michigan University men’s basketball team looks to snap its six-game losing streak, as the Wildcats hit the road for a pair of Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference games in Ohio. NMU will tip-off against Ohio Dominican on Sunday at 5:30 p.m. and then against Tiffin on Tuesday at 6 p.m.

Northern (1-6; 0-4 GLIAC) fell in its first hosted GLIAC games last weekend to Hillsdale, 70-44 and Findlay, 80-62. Junior forward Matthew Craggs leads the ‘Cats averaging 13 points in seven starts. Craggs and sophomore forward Kendall Jackson lead the rebounding category, each averaging 5.6 a game. Senior forward TJ Cameron is fourth in the GLIAC in three-point percentage at 55 percent.

Ohio Dominican (3-6; 0-5) also searches for its first win in the conference, as the Panthers have lost five straight. ODU fell to Ferris State 74-64 last Thursday and Grand Valley 67-58 on Saturday. Michigan Tech defeated the Panthers 75-56 on Thursday night.

ODU is led by Morgan Jones with an average of 16.7 points a game. Bobby Stauffer and John Trew each average seven rebounds per game.

Tiffin (3-5; 1-3 GLIAC) enters the weekend after falling in both of its games last weekend. The Dragons travelled to GVSU, where they were defeated 66-52 and then fell at Ferris 86-70. Before Tuesday’s matchup against NMU, the Dragons will host Michigan Tech on Saturday at 1 p.m.

Tiffin is led by Joe Graessle, who is second in the GLIAC, averaging 23.3 points in eight starts. Eric Roby is also in double figures with 10. Mike Boan leads in rebounds, averaging seven a game in eight games.
