Flappers, gangsters, zoot suits and speak-easy good times are hitting Marquette this weekend.

NMU’s Hospitality Management and Catering class is holding its annual scholarship fundraiser and Gala Saturday night. The Jacobetti Complex will take a step back in time and be transformed into to the Roaring 20’s.

Countless hours of planning, menu preparation, decorating, marketing and entertainment selection have gone in to the event in order to bring to life a favorite movie in the name of charity and education.

“A lot of us are into the Gatsby movie that just came out and the glitz and glam of it all, its kind of dirty with the speak–easy, glammy and grungy, its a lot of fun and there is a lot to do with it.  We are doing black–jack tables, build your own flapper headband, 20’s themed drinks, gin gimlet and the Black Rocks Brewery made us our own brew for the event,” said Samantha Chevrette, Roaring 20’s Event Banquet Manager.

To the students surprise and excitement, their five course dinner with wine pairings is sold out. Business and Entrepreneur type items are still needed for their silent auction.
