NMU hockey player off to hot start
The Northern Michigan University hockey team has the upcoming weekend off. If Wildcats forward Stephan Vigier had his way, the Wildcats would be playing.
Vigier is off to a tremendous start this season. The Senior from Notre Dame, Manitoba currently leads the Western Collegiate Hockey Association in points with twelve.
Ten of his twelve points are goals. He scored seven goals all of last season. Vigier credits his line mates for his early season success.
“The chemistry with my line mates is a big deal,” said Vigier. (Ryan) Daugherty and (Reed) Seckel are great players and they’ve been getting me the puck. Secondly, I’ve just been shooting a ton. I think the key is to just keep shooting.”
“He’s a senior that is very determined to have a good year,” said Wildcats head coach Walt Kyle about Vigier. “I think everything he does is with a real purpose and a real focus. He’s there everyday at practice trying to improve his game. I think he’s playing the best he’s ever played in college and he’s certainly one of the better players in the league.”
NMU is next in action on November 22nd and 23rd, when the ‘Cats will host Alabama Huntsville at the Berry Events Center.
