NMU football players headed to bowl game

MIAMI, Fla. — Northern Michigan University senior linebacker Nick Krause and senior wide receiver Kelvin Smarwt have been named to the roster for the National Bowl Game which will be played Dec. 7, 2014 at Ocean Bank Field at FIU Stadium in Miami, Fla.

The National Bowl Game is an annual post-season college football all-star game consisting of top players from Non-FBS schools.

Both players have been named to the Blue Nation roster which will be coached by Brian Ferguson who is currently an assistant coach with the Jacksonville Sharks of the Arena Football League.

Krause was one of the top defensive players this season for the Wildcats ranking second on the squad with 84 tackles including a team-high 51 solo hits. He was also second on the team with 10 tackles for loss and had six pass breakups.

Smarwt led NMU with 56 receptions for 690 yards. He had three touchdowns and averaged 62.7 yards per outing and 5.1 receptions per game with an average of 12.3 yards per reception.
