NMU football continues spring season

The 2012 football season for the Northern Michigan Wildcats was a tale of two different seasons.

NMU started out 1-5, before rebounding in a big way finishing the season 4-7.

Part of the reason for the Wildcats’ second half success was the vast improvement of the defensive secondary.

With little or no experience at the beginning of the season, the young core of players gained experience the hard way by playing against some of the best offensive teams in the GLIAC.

The ‘Cats are hoping the secondary’s gained experience will benefit the team long term, starting this fall.

NMU will hold its second annual scrimmage of the spring campaign Saturday morning at the Superior Dome, beginning at 10:30am.

The Wildcats have three practices scheduled next week.

The conclusion of the spring season takes place with the playing of the spring football game on Saturday, April 20 at 3:30pm.
