NMU Folklife Festival Moving to Autumn

A recent addition to the music festival calendar in the Marquette area took the year off this spring.

But that’s only because it’s moving on the calendar to the fall.

And it’s also moving outdoors.

The U.P. Folklife Festival started in 2008.

For its first two years, it had been held in March.

But now NMU’s Beaumier Heritage Center has decided to move the festival to September so that it can be held outdoors.

Organizers are looking for not just musicians and dancers, but crafters, storytellers and anyone with talents that represent the U.P.’s cultural, ethnic and artistic traditions.
