NMU Eyeing Presque Isle Ave. Development

Nothern Michigan University is taking the first step to see if future development of Presque Isle Avenue would be possible.

NMU is doing a market study, using the Anderson Economic Group to see the feasibility of adding retail space, restaurants, offices or apartments on the street.

The area they’re looking at is adjacent to campus, from Wright Street to Fair Avenue.

NMU doesn’t own all the land.

But the school does have some of the property, including the former Hardee’s restaurant.

Early next week, the Anderson Group is having focus groups with residents and businesspeople to determine market demand and community interest.

NMU plans to have the results from the focus group in July.

Then, if development looks feasible, they’d do an economic study.
