NMU Enrollment Promising

Northern Michigan University is only two weeks into the new school year, but enrollment reports are promising.

This past spring, Northern’s largest graduating class of all time left the campus.

School officials originally thought that the number of students graduating would bring down enrollment.

It did bring enrollment down, but not by anywhere near as much as they’d thought.

NMU’s enrollment is sitting at 9,252 students, a decline of 0.2% from a year ago.

NMU associate vice president of institutional research Paul Duby says the new freshman class has helped offset the loss of last spring’s graduating class.

The incoming class of freshmen pursuing bachelor’s degrees increased by a little over 100 students, putting the total amount of them at NMU this semester around 1300.
