NMU Defenseman earns CCHA accolade

FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. – Senior captain Scott Macaulay, of the Northern Michigan University hockey team, is this week’s Central Collegiate Hockey Association Gladiator Defenseman of the Week after his performance against the University of Alaska Fairbanks over the weekend.

Macaulay had a goal and and an assist in the Wildcats 4-3 overtime win on Friday and and added an assist in the 2-2 tie on Saturday. On Friday, he scored the game-winner 52 seconds into overtime, shorthanded. He also assisted on Kory Kaunisto’s second period tally. Macaulay added an assist Saturday on Stephan Vigier’s first period goal. He finished the weekend +2 with four shots on goal and two blocks.

Macaulay has three goals and six assists this season and leads the team with a +4.

The Wildcats travel to No. 10-ranked Western Michigan this weekend.
