NMU defeats Finlandia in men’s basketball

MARQUETTE, Mich. – The Northern Michigan University men’s basketball team defeated Finlandia, 77-45 in the first basketball game of the regular season at the Berry Events Center.

Wildcats freshman forward Copper Radtke led the team with 14 points off the bench on 6-of-11 shooting from the field. Fellow freshman forward Alex Sorenson had 11 points and freshman guard Jordan Perez had 10 points to lead NMU (1-2) to their first win of the season.

For Finlandia, freshman guard Eric Lori led all scorers with 17 points. The former Negaunee Miner finished the game 5-of-8 from the field, including shooting 50 percent from 3-point land (2-of-4). Former Ewen-Trout Creek forward Jordan LaPlant had 12 points for the Lions.

NMU is next in action Tuesday, Nov. 25 at home against Minnesota Duluth. Tip-off from the Berry Events Center is set for 7 p.m. Finlandia is scheduled to play in a tournament at UW-Oshkosh this Friday and Saturday.
