Today is National Cookie Day and the Wildcat Den at NMU celebrated with a cookie bar.

Students had their pick of various cookie shapes and toppings for a dessert that for some may be reminiscent of baking Christmas cookies with mom around the holidays.

Laurie Schneider, Operations Manager at the Wildcat Den, said, “We’re letting the students be reminded of home and things they used to do; decorating cookies with frosting, sprinkles, whatever they want to do, sprinkles. I think they’re really enjoying it.”

The word cookie comes from the Dutch word koekje, and Cookie Monster even declared a National Cookie Day in the book The Sesame Street Dictionary.

His cookie day and ours, however, are unrelated.
