MARQUETTE — The Northern Michigan University Board of Trustees has elected a new Chair and Vice Chairperson.
H. Sook Wilkinson will serve as the new Chair and Thomas Zurbuchen will serve as Vice Chair. Wilkinson holds a doctorate and the highest level of license to practice psychology in the State of Michigan. She has also published several books on the culture of Asian immigrants to the United States.
Zurbuchen has a Doctorate in Astrophysics from the University of Bern in Switzerland and led the team that developed NASA’s Fast Imaging Plasma Spectrometer.
This is the first time in the history of NMU that the chair and vice-chair are Ph.D. holding, first generation immigrants.
