NMU Academic Quality Check

Northern Michigan University is trying to use a visit from the U.S. Department of Education to better the school as a whole.

Representatives from the Higher Learning Commission’s Academic Quality Improvement Program, or AQIP, are visiting NMU through Friday.

AQIP is there to check the quality of programs and projects across the campus to make sure the school can be re-accredited.

This afternoon, AQIP took part in an open campus discussion with students and staff on the quality of a Northern education.

The goal of the visit is to discuss the strengths and weaknesses of the university, and then use those points to ensure quality learning for the next 10 years.

During the visit, AQIP will meet with 18 different groups.

Students, faculty, staff and administrators are part of each group.
