NHL Announces Winter Classic Plans
The National Hockey League announced today that the 2013 Winter Classic game will feature the Toronto Maple Leafs against the Detroit Red Wings, on January 1, 2013. The game will be played at Michigan Stadium in Ann Arbor.
In addition to the Winter Classic game at Michigan Stadium, the 2012 Great Lakes Invitational and the NHL Alumni game between Maple Leafs and Red Wings alumni will be played outside at Comerica Park in Detroit.
The 2012 GLI will feature Michigan Tech vs. Michigan, and Western Michigan vs. Michigan State.
The NHL expects between 150,000-200,000 fans to participate in one of the Winter Classic fesitivities.
