New warming hut open next to popular ski path

SANDS TOWNSHIP — The Superiorland Ski Club held a ribbon cutting ceremony for the newly constructed warming hut at Blueberry Ridge Ski Pathway.

The warming hut is located in the lighted parking lot off of highway M–553. This highly trafficked skiing area has already put the new warming hut to good use.

“We’ve been open since the first snow,” said Debby Muskovitch with the Blueberry Ridge Warming Hut Committee, “and there have been lots of different people using this hut that want to get outside and enjoy snow of many different ages and abilities and this has been making a lot of people happy and warm.”

The Michigan State DNR owns and operates the Blueberry Ridge Ski Pathway, but funds were raised in a collaborative effort with the Superiorland Ski Club, Sands Township, and the community.
