New traffic configuration starts at roundabout project
ISHPEMING — Work continues on the US-41/M-28 roundabout project in Ishpeming.
Starting the afternoon of Monday, July 25th, officials from the Michigan Department of Transportation say east- and westbound traffic will be using both halves of the roundabout. Work will continue on the south side of the highway near Third Street, which will require a traffic shift for eastbound traffic after it exits the roundabout.
Third Street will be closed and the temporary signal removed; downtown traffic will enter Ishpeming via the roundabout on Second Street.
MDOT says motorists should remember the following information regarding roundabouts:
- Traffic in the roundabout always moves counterclockwise
- Choose your lane before entering
- Yield to traffic already in the roundabout
- Use signs and pavement markings to help guide you
