New restaurant to open in Hancock

Another sign of a strong U.P. economy: a new restaurant is opening up in the Copper Country.  ABC Ten’s Keweenaw Bureau Reporter Rick Allen has the spicy details.

If you’ve found yourself in Hancock recently craving some excellent Mexican cuisine…you were out of luck.   Until now.

At a ribbon cutting ceremony, the public was introduced to the area’s newest restaurant: Habaneros in downtown Hancock.   Featuring fine steaks and hand-crafted salads…along with traditional south of the border flare… this restaurant is what local residents have been waiting for.

Julie Cortwright also owns the Library Pub and Grill in Houghton and was the owner of the former Steamer’s Grill…lost to a fire in 2002.   But now,she says it’s like the family is back together again.

Habaneros opens to the public the day after Thanksgiving.
