LANSING — A bill recently signed into law by Governor Rick Snyder could help improve Michigan’s road conditions.

Senate Bill 729 — now Public Act 77 of 2016 — allows local townships to borrow money from their county for assistance in the funding of road construction projects. The hope is that the bill will result in lower long-term costs for local government in terms of road construction and maintenance. The law could also result in earlier completion times for some construction projects.

After signing the bill, Snyder said, “Better roads are essential to maintaining Michigan’s economic growth.”
