New Kind of Care for Pregnant Women

A new model being used in almost all 50 states for health care for pregnant women is coming to the U.P. next month.

Area doctors are getting excited about the new approach.

Starting next month, MGH is teaming up with the Marquette Medicine Residency Program to offer Center Pregnancy.

It’s a kind of group-based prenatal care.

Instead of meeting with their doctor one visit at a time, pregnant women spend more time with their health care provider and with other pregnant women.

This gives them a chance to learn more about pregnancy, childbirth and parenting.

Centering Pregnancy has already shown to not only be fun for mothers, but healthier for mother and baby alike.
