New COO named to UP Health System – Marquette

MARQUETTE -– Upper Peninsula Health System – Marquette CEO Ed Banos has announced that Jeff Perry has joined the hospital’s administrative staff as Chief Operating Officer.

In this key position Perry will work directly with Banos to manage and shape short and long-term development of hospital departmental operations.

Banos said, “Jeff will help us in overall operational management and with continued development of organizational structure, working closely with the department directors who report to him.”

Perry comes to UPHS – Marquette with an extensive background in Healthcare. He served as Chief Operating Officer at Legacy Community Health Services in Houston, Texas, where he oversaw operations of 20 clinics with Adult Medicine, Pediatrics, Obstetrics, Dental, Vision, and Behavioral Health.

Perry also worked at Oklahoma State University Medical Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma, where he worked as both Chief Operating Officer and Chief Nursing Officer. He is experienced with the ever-changing challenges in healthcare.
In 2011 Perry was awarded the Oklahoma Hospital Association’s Spirit of Transformation Award. Wherever he serves, he has improved efficiencies as well as the overall patient experience. His background as a registered nurse as well as being a Fellow of American College of Healthcare Executives (FACHE), makes him well suited to the new challenges and opportunities facing UPHS-Marquette. Perry also served as an active duty combat medic and was involved with other army based medical duties.

He received both his Bachelor of Science as well as his Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio. He is currently completing his Doctor of Health Administration from Central Michigan University in Mt. Pleasant.
