ESCANABA–A new art exhibit is being displayed in the Upper Peninsula and if you like the work of this artist, there is a chance for you meet him.

Bay College is hosting a reception and talk by artist Russell Prather on September eighth. Prather’s work has been shown all over the world, in places like Grand Rapids, Chicago and Berlin.

Prather says his art is meant to get viewers to constantly reassess what they are seeing and challenge what he calls the habitual way we perceive the world. A representative from the college says they are so excited to host Prather and his work.

“I love having his work here, we do actually have one of his earlier pieces in our art collection,” said Kristine Grange of the Besse Center Fine Arts Gallery, “I’ve seen his work transform and grow so much and I was extremely excited and we at Bay College are extremely honored to have him here.”

The artist reception will be held in the Besse Center Theatre on campus. The event is open to the public. For more information on the event check out it’s Facebook page here.
