NEGAUNEE — A wintertime staple in Negaunee is coming to an end.

The Negaunee Irontown Association has cancelled the 2015 Heikki Lunta Festival.  According to the association’s website, the event was cancelled due to lack of funding to purchase fireworks due to the rising costs in putting on the event.

Heikki Lunta was originally slated to start January 17, and would have marked the festival’s 20th anniversary.

In 2015, the Irontown Board will focus their efforts towards Pioneer Days, the scholarship fund, and the annual Tree Lighting.
