Negaunee City Manager Resigns

There were already 2 cities in Marquette County that were looking for city managers.

Now, make it 3.

Negaunee City Manager Gerry Peterson has told the City Council that he wants out.

He gave the council verbal notice last night that he’ll be leaving the job in 90 days.

Peterson told us over the phone that in his opinion as manager, the City Council is heading in a direction in which he does not wish to go.

Peterson was Marquette’s city manager until 2005.

He resigned from that job amid controversy over Marquette’s first failed attempt to sell and develop Founders Landing.

Marquette is looking for a manager; today was Judy Akkala’s last day in that job before her retirement.

Ishpeming has identified its top candidate in its own manager search, but until they hire someone, they’re technically still looking as well.
