Names Released in Ironwood Meth Bust

The names of the two people involved in a meth bust this morning in Ironwood have been released.

28-year-old Jenifer Lynn Powell, and 26-year-old Jonathan Phillip Thomas, both of Ironwood, are facing 8 felony counts each.

At 8:45 Friday morning, officers from the Gogebic–Iron Area Narcotics Team executed a search warrant at 229 Evans Street in Ironwood. Powell and Thomas, the home owners, were taken into custody.

Officers discovered multiple labs, methamphetamine, as well as several meth making components. The two suspects have been charged with: 6 counts of delivery and manufacturing methamphetamine, operating and maintaining a laboratory involving meth, both are 20 year felonies as well as possession of methamphetamine which is a 10 year felony.

A meth lab clean up crew is en route to dispose of the hazardous materials.

Powell and Thomas are both being held in the Gogebic County Jail tonight. Bond has been set at $190,000 each.

Assisting with the search were the Upper Peninsula Substance Enforcement Team, Ironwood Public Safety and Gogebic County Sheriff’s Department.
