Nails on Alger County Road

A DANGEROUS SITUATION ON A ROAD IN ALGER COUNTY IS BEING LOOKED INTO BY THE MICHIGAN STATE POLICE.

SEVERAL INCIDENTS OF FLAT TIRES AND LARGE VOLUMES OF NAILS HAVE BEEN RECOVERED FROM THE STRETCH OF H–58 BETWEEN MELSTAND AND GRAND MARAIS.

STATE TROOPERS SAY THIS MAYBE MORE THAN ACCIDENTAL.

THE ROAD IS A POPULAR ROUTE AT THIS TIME OF YEAR FOR VIEWING FALL COLORS OR VISITING PICTURED ROCKS NATIONAL PARK.

NAILS IN THE ROAD CAN BE PARTICULARLY DANGEROUS TO ALL VEHICLES, BUT ESPECIALLY TO MOTORCYCLISTS.

THE ALGER COUNTY ROAD COMMISSION HAS BEEN WORKING TO SWIFTLY CLEAR THE NAILS FROM THE ROAD.
